Element Comics

There are 12 elements in this story, except there's something different about it. The elements are alive.
They each have different powers and personalities and adventures that they go on.
Sometimes they fight each other to see who is the strongest.
The elements were chosen based off of Syrone Pierce and the 13 magics.
They may not be literal elements, but they work for this story.

Meet the Characters

Creating the Comics:

Willie was just messing around with Inkscape one day when he found he could make a cool looking character. The first one he made was Lightning, which was supposed to be fire, but it looked more like Lightning. Then he made a Water character, with tall water spouting out. He soon discovered how much fun this was, even with his limited artistic abilities. He didn't need it to be perfect, he just wanted to make something.

Now that he had these creations, what was he to do with them? He briefly contemplated making animations with them, but that might be hard and not look very good. So instead, he turned them into a comic. It started with just simple short stories. Willie loved them, despite how lacking the initial episodes were.

After the first three episodes came out, Willie decided to take a break from Element Comics. When he returned, he did so with the help of his sister who had ideas on how to make it more consistent and improve the character design. I am happy to admit that the new redesign looks much better than the old designs. It just adds much cuteness and expression to the characters.

Originally the comics were merely one page long, which worked well enough, but it caused the stories to be short and didn't leave a lot of room for real impact. Then Willie went ahead and made a longer one which worked out great and since then the following ones have also been longer. 5 pages seems to be the norm, which is enough to set up a problem, meet some characters, and then solve the problem. I like having the final image be of them all being happy together.

Also I will mention the backgrounds and how much it has improved since the start. In the first one, it was just white backgrounds. I just wanted something simple and easy. After that, I found out how much value the backgrounds can add, so I filled it in with color, added objects to the scenery, made it not so boring. Now it seems making the background takes longer than placing the characters.
